Auditions for the Chilliwack Players Guild's fall production, FLEA in HER EAR by Georges Feydeau, will be held on Thursday, June 8th and Tuesday, June 13th, from 7 - 9:30 pm at the Guild Hall.   The play will be directed by Janet Carroll and produced by Patti Lawn and Debra Archer.   All are welcome to attend the auditions.  Those interested in auditioning will be asked to read excerpts from the play; no preparation is necessary.  Plan to arrive at 7 pm.  Those interested in helping out backstage are encouraged to attend the auditions.


FLEA in HER EAR is a hilarious farce with roles for 9 male actors and 5 female actors, ages 20 – 70.  The play takes play in Paris during the early 1900s.

The plot of the play revolves around mistaken identities, a seedy hotel, a plot to catch a cheating spouse, sexual innuendo, slamming doors – all  resulting in an avalanche of comic chaos!

FLEA in HER EAR has been staged hundreds of times by professional and community theatre companies all around the world.  Feydeau is know for witty dialogue, fast paced action, outlandish characters, and rapid fire plot twists.

Roles:

Victor/Poche (35 – 50) – Victor is a conservative, well-to-do Parisian businessman; Poche is a bellboy with a taste for brandy who works at the Frisky Puss Hotel; the same actor plays both roles

Raymonde (35 – 50) – Victor’s wife who mistakenly believes that her husband has been cheating on her with another woman at the Frisky Puss Hotel; she conceives a plot to catch him in the act and expose his infidelity

Camille (20 – 35) – Victor’s nephew who has been flirting with his uncle’s cook

Lucienne (35 – 50) – Raymonde’s best friend and co-conspirator

Don Carlos (35 – 50) – a Spanish matador with a fiery temper and a jealous nature who owns a pistol

Dr. Finache (35 – 60) – chief medical officer of the insurance business that Victor owns

Romain (30 – 50) – Victor’s dashing friend who has an eye for the ladies

Antionette (30 – 50) – the cook

Etienne – (30 – 50) – the valet, married to Antionette

Ferraillon (40 – 70) – a former military man and the owner of the Frisky Puss

Olympia (40 – 60) – Ferraillon’s wife and a famous former courtesan

Eugenia (20 – 35) – the chambermaid at the Frisky Puss

Baptiste (50 – 70) – an old man at the hotel

Rugby (40 – 60) – a patron at the Frisky Puss
