We join the cast and crew of a new comedy, The Care and Treatment of Roses, in the late stages of rehearsals, with everything falling apart and the antics continue as the show starts it's run. Described as a "love letter to Canadian Theatre", Jitters pokes fun at the insecurities and competitiveness of actors, while also showcasing their talent and dedication. The Characters:
Patrick Flanagan – 40 to 50, Leading Man, an established Canadian Actor, drinker, resents Jessica. Has an Italian accent in the first act.
Jessica Logan – 40 to 50,Leading Lady, worked on Broadway and, after two flops,is trying to jump-start her career, mildly extravagant.
Phil Mastorakis – 40 to 60, Veteran actor, edgy, insecure, lives with his mother, hypochondriac, begs for a prompter.
George Ellsworth – 30 to 40, The Director, over diplomatic, a peacemaker.
Robert Ross – late 20’s to 30’s, nerdy, up and coming new, neurotic, playwright.
Tom Kent – 20 to 30, Clueless young actor, on the cusp of making it big.
Nick – 40 to 60, The tyrannical put upon, Stage Manager. Trying his hardest to keep the play running.
Susi – 20 to 30, Front of House, problem solver
Peggy – 20 to 30, Stage Crew, and good at it, a bit flirty.
